HID OCR640e Desktop

The HID OCR640e Desktop is a full-page identity document reader designed to automate the capture and extraction of data from passports, ID cards, visas and driving licences. Its multi-illumination system captures visible, infrared and ultraviolet images to support the inspection of documents and their security features.

In a single operation, the reader captures the document page, decodes the machine-readable zone (MRZ) and, depending on the selected configuration, processes RFID data from electronic passports, including the holder’s photograph. Automatic document detection and compensation for out-of-position MRZ data help speed up checks and reduce manual rescanning.

With 400 DPI resolution and a 132 × 88 mm active scan area, the OCR640e Desktop is suited to fixed inspection desks handling high document volumes. It can also read 1D and 2D barcodes presented on paper, smartphones, tablets and smart watches.

Its compact footprint and visual status indicators, complemented by programmable audible feedback, simplify use across border control, banking and telecommunications, document issuance, age verification, tax refund and currency exchange, hospitality, airport and car rental environments.
